Database Administrator II

Key responsibilities
This position is to deploy, maintain and support databases online. This position requires a good knowledge in both MySQL and Oracle database technologies.
It requires excellent database knowledge with significant expertise in Performance tuning, Trouble shooting and database backup and recovery and it also includes.
ORACLE

* Install, configure and setup Database and Real Application Cluster (9i/10g)
* Deploy and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and Procedures.
* Proactively monitoring database performance and come up with suggestions
* Preventive maintenance
* Trouble Shooting production Issues.
* Setup and maintain documentation and standards
* Work as part of a team and provide 7×24 support when required
* Do general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams
* Set up database monitoring and operations readiness testing
* Work with NOC, ESM, and production control team extensively.
* Executing Change Management tickets
* Proactive work to reduce number of tickets generated by alerting system
* Execute maintenance tasks during scheduled maintenance
* Creating service request with oracle and work with them until finding a root cause
* Work with L3 Level DBA team and help on deployment
* Work with the team to ensure DB high availability and optimum performance
* Load testing
MySQL

* Installation, configuration and upgrading of MYSQL databases. (5.0 / 5.1)
* Familiar with MYSQL Administration including various storage engines.
* Performance tuning of MYSQL database
* Experience in working with MYSQL technical support
* Experience in various MYSQL tools
* Design and Implement various MYSQL backup/recovery strategies
* Strong experience in MYSQL replication
* Develop methods for monitoring
* Solid experience in Linux/Unix and shell scripting

Excellent communication skills

Experience – 6+yrs

Location – Hyderabad
