One such client which is the World”s Largest IT Consulting Giant is looking for :

Senior Oracle DBA (L3 support)

Job Location: Bangalore

Exp 4- 10 yrs

Role and Responsibilities

Document and define the database approach and requirements for Refresh, Swing, Lift and Shift migrations
Ensure best practice is applied
Analyse database maintenance, management and enhancement plans (including upgrades, tuning and capacity planning)
Working with other teams (App Dev, BAU etc) to plan change dates and times
Arranging handover to BAU support teams (agreeing and documenting per migration requirements)
Documentation – Clear documentation needs to be produced pre and post migration
Problem ownership, with escalation as and when required
Migration of existing Production and Development database environments
Support key migration stages and help resolve any database issues that may arise
Database maintenance, management and enhancements
Database upgrades, tuning and capacity planning
On-going evaluation and analysis of the database environments to provide optimum performance
Liaison with appropriate application development
Maintain good working relationships with Application Development community and Operational support teams

Migration weekend activities:

Perform ASM migration
Move RAC cluster from one data centre to another
Move large number of database running on VCS cluster
Move standalone database from one data centre to another
Migrate database running on HP-UX/Solaris to Linux
Database checks and shutdown and start-up.
Resolve any Database and client connectivity issues/working with App Dev to help resolve issues

Business knowledge
* Demonstrates experience working within similar large corporate environments. In a similar role to the above.
* Must have strong grounding in support of Production System and success in delivering projects in a high pressure Business atmosphere.
Technical knowledge
* Installation, management and support of Oracle 9i/10G/11G on the following platforms – Linux RHEL 3,4 & 5, Solaris 8-10.
* Have performed Database upgrades and understand database tuning concepts.
* Have basic understanding of Oracle ASM.
* Have understanding of Oracle migration methodologies.
* Have managed environment where Oracle based application using LDAP/TNSNAMES.
* Change control awareness and industry best practices.
* RMAN Backup / recovery technologies and industry best practices.
* BCP awareness
