Position: Oracle Database Administration
Experience: 5 – 8 years
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities will include
* Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
* Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
* Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
* Responsible for providing trend analysis to the team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
* Responsible for problem escalation to the Engineering team as appropriate.
* Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
* Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
Desired Candidate Profile:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications to be considered a candidate:
* B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or its equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years of proven Oracle Database Administration experience with versions 10g and higher.
* Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems – both OLTP and Warehouse.
* Proficient in writing Unix/Linux shell scripts using standard utilities and tools like awk, sed, etc.
* Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
* Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
* Experience of other database systems, preferably SQL Server
* Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security
* Oracle Certification, preferably OCP
* Must be self-motivated professional providing creative solutions, working constructively as a team member or independently with excellent problem-solving and communication skills
