Description

Production Technician

Role Mission

The Production Technician carries out installations, technical support
and maintenance according to instructions given for infrastructure and
applications. The Production Technician proactively works with
operational measurement and tuning and resolves the majority of
escalated incidents. The role ensures quality, efficiency and security
in production.

This role occurs at Professional Development Step A, B and C.

Role Context

The Production Technician is mainly working in the Deploy and Operate processes.

Responsibilities and Powers

Key responsibilities

• Work according to routines in the area of responsibility for quality, efficiency and security

• Under immediate supervision carry out installation and maintenance
of standard products of infrastructure and/or applications in accordance
with standardised routines

• Participate in carrying out operational measurements

• Resolve the majority of escalated incidents

• Contribute to input to Service Monitoring and Service Desk in all aspects regarding Event Management and Incident Management

• Contribute to input to the Service Runtime Management function with focus on optimizing services

• Authorised to suggest alternative solutions and point out deficiencies related to quality and security requirements.

Additional responsibilities for Professional Development Step B

• Responsible for the operation quality and security on given
Infrastructure and/or applications in accordance with agreed Service
Level Agreements (SLA) and/or specific regulations (SOX)

• Authorized to make commitments that falls within the scope described
in the “Individual Job Description” agreed with the Line Manager and/or
any other contract /directive effective in the specific infrastructure
area

• Carry out operational measurements based on instructions and guidance in some areas

• Contribute to problem localisation and resolution regarding infrastructure and/or applications

• Carry out base operational tuning based on instructions and guidance in some areas

• When required, contribute with knowledge within projects, reviews etc.

• Propose changes that make systems more efficient and/or reduce operations or maintenance costs

Additional responsibilities for Professional Development Step C

• Interact with technicians from Infrastructure Management and the Application Maintenance organisation

• Control and strive for that the services in runtime production meet
the given service levels for performance and availability

• Report performance, efficiency and capacity measurements to IM, SRM and Application functions

• Provide guidance to technicians within the area of responsibility

• Contribute with input to Infrastructure Management and the
Application Maintenance organisation in order to improve the efficiency
of the production of applications

Education and / or Experience Recommended

• Batchelor or Master degree in Computer Science or other training and experience required for the specific position

Additional experience recommended at Professional Development Step B

• Overall deeper skills and higher knowledge in the area

Additional experience recommended at Professional Development Step C

• Good knowledge of the Volvo IT production environment

• Good knowledge of the Volvo IT organisation

• Good knowledge of customer runtime infrastructure architecture

SKILLS REQUIRED:-

o Experience as Oracle DBA

o Experience in performance tuning of Oracle 10g or 11g database

o Experience in Oracle PL/SQL coding

o Experience in Shell scripting

o Experience with working in Linux or Unix environments

o Knowledge / Understanding of the Oracle Database architecture

o Familiarity with Oracle utilities such as (RMAN, Data Pump)
