Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator

Job Description:

Data Base Administrator with 5 to 10 years of experience in maintaining and tuning applications preferably in Banking Domain.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for integrity and security of the database.
2. Monitoring performance and managing configuration parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
3. Installation and testing of new databases.
4. Identifying the bottle-necks and performance tuning
5. Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans.
6. Ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
7. Capacity planning
8. Controlling access permissions and privileges.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Any Graduation with minimum 4 years experience as Data base administrator.

Mandatory Skills:
1. Problem-solving and good analytical skills
2. Good experience in DBA in one or more of the following areas – Production/Development/Implementation environment.
3. Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
4. Ability to work on tight deadlines under pressure
5. Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and/or customers.
6. Good Communication Skills and Team work.

Desirable Skills:
1. Flexibility and adaptability
2. Willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology
3. Strong analytical skills and reasoning ability
4. Commitment to continuing professional development.

Administration of SQL Server databases, versions 2000, 2005 and 2008, in a production environment at a senior/advanced level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
• Responsible for backup and recovery plans for the SQL Server databases
• Work with the System’s Team to manage hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
• To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure minimum downtime.
• Responsible for problem escalation to vendors and third parties as appropriate.
• Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
• Responsible for implementing and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
• Responsible for implementing new database installations per vendor/third party specifications

Skills & Requirements:

• Expert (5+ years) SQL Server Database Administration experience with versions 2000, 2005 and 2008
• Experience administering large SQL Server databases – 100+ GB
• Experience installing, configuring and upgrading of SQL Servers.
• Experience with backup and recovery of SQL Server databases
• Ability to implement and maintain database security
• Experience with SQL Server patch management and version control
• Experience with SQL Server clusters including installation, configuration and upgrading
• Practical experience with performance monitoring and database tuning for SQL Server databases
• Experience working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
• Advanced windows scripting skills
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS; including installing and configuring
